SARMAPweb

The SARMAP model, used for over 25 years in search and rescue operations worldwide, has been updated to function within OceansMap’s Incident Management Tool, allowing users to view, animate, and deploy oil spill and search & rescue models.

Search and rescue operations

SARMAPweb Overview

For more than 25 years, the SARMAP model has provided reliable predictions of drifting objects and missing persons in marine, fresh water, and aeronautical environments and has been used by Coast Guard agencies, Naval departments and international governments to successfully support search and rescue response, planning and drills/ exercises in over 100 countries. Now, the SARMAP model has been updated to function in the Incident Management Tool (IMT) in OceansMap. The SARMAPWeb FirstStrike model is presented in OceansMap in Incident Management Tool (IMT) and enables users to view, animate, run, and upload oil spill trajectory models from SARMAP Desktop. In addition, users can create and deploy search & rescue units in their modeling scenarios.

SARMAPweb FirstStrike

SARMAPWeb FirstStrike is a cloud-based search and rescue modeling platform that combines trajectory and drift modeling, an object database, environmental data (via EDS), and visualization tools. It uses wind and current forecasts to simulate object movement, applying IAMSAR and Monte Carlo methods along with U.S. Coast Guard drift data for accuracy. Users can model up to nine objects per simulation, generate reports and animations, and start scenarios using drawn paths or uploaded GeoJSON/shape files. The system runs on Tetra Tech’s Model Data Service (MDS) and supports collaboration by allowing users to upload and share SARMAP Desktop scenarios through the IMT.
